President Barack Obama has exerted executive privilege over documents related to the Fast & Furious gunrunning operation, stepping into the stand-off between Attorney General Eric Holder and House Oversight Chair Darrell Issa.

The Oversight Committee is demanding previously undisclosed documents about the DOJ’s response to Fast and Furious, a gunrunning operation in which U.S. agents allowed guns to “walk” across the border and into the hands of Mexico’s drug cartels.

Obama’s move today is surprising —this is the first time that he has invoked executive privilege — and comes on the same day that the Oversight Committee is set to vote on whether to hold Holder in contempt over the Department of Justice’s involvement in the botched operation.

“A mere demarcation on parchment of the constitutional limits (of government) is not a sufficient guard against those encroachments which lead to a tyrannical concentration of all the powers of government in the same hands.” – James Madison, Federalist Paper #48, 1788.

President Obama signed an Executive Order for “National Defense” yesterday that claims executive authority to seize all US resources and persons, including during peacetime, for self-declared “national defense.”

“American exceptionalism” is the belief that a 200+ year-old parchment in the National Archives has magical powers to somehow guarantee limited government from 1% tyranny, despite the specific and clear warnings of the US Founders, despite world history of repeated oligarchic/1% tyranny claiming to be for the “good of the people,” and despite US history’s descent

into vicious psychopathy (short version here: US war history in 2 minutes) hidden in plain view with paper-thin corporate media propaganda.

I don’t know about you, but both my grandfathers were in the US military during the gruesome WW1. My father, father-in-law, and only uncle were in a brutal WW2. Both wars were functions of colonialism; a 1%’s vicious and rapacious greed.

Now, we’re all looking at WW3 that includes official policy and dark rhetoric for US first-strike use of nuclear weapons on Iran. This, after multiple current lie-started and treaty-violating wars surrounding Iran, increased US military preparationsmultiple war-propagandizing US political “leaders,” and recent history of US overthrowing Iran’s democracy and 35 consecutive years of US war on Iran that killed over one million Iranians.

I don’t know about you, but I’m teaching the obvious crimes in war and money, destruction of Constitutional Rights rights (see specific links below), and asking students (of all ages) what they see to do about these clear facts. The first answer people see is to help people get over their “American exceptionalism” to recognize these massive crimes, and demand arrests of the obvious criminal “leadership.”

I don’t know about you, but I refuse to be silent in face of lying and criminal government policies that annually murder millions, harm billions, and loot trillions of the 99%’s dollars.

What will you do?

Here is the US government claiming it can Constitutionally assassinate Americans upon the non-reviewable dictate of the leader, as these criminals take psychopathic steps to murder Americans who expose their crimes.

Here is NDAA 2012 where US government claims it can Constitutionally disappear Americans and then appoint a tribunal with death sentence authority (unless unlimited detention is their choice). Here is the 2006 Military Commissions Act that says the same. This is fascist terrorism to silence Americans from communicating that the 1% are War Criminals to arrest NOW.

Here is US government claiming it can Constitutionally control-drown (waterboard) anyone they declare a “terrorist” as a 1% terror-tactic to silence Americans.

Again, what will you do?

Worries over a “major catastrophe” hitting the United States also drive firearms purchases

Gun shops are citing fears over Barack Obama’s re-election to explain surging sales, with one store in Lubbock, Texas reporting “drastic” increases in firearms purchases, as a new National Geographic survey finds a majority of respondents believe America will be hit with a “major catastrophe” at some point.

Video

“Now that it’s election season again, you have people uncertain… You have a customer or two coming in and saying that they’re buying because they’re afraid they won’t be able to get it soon,” said J.D. Clay, salesman at Sharpshooters Inc.

Sharpshooters report a 40 per cent increase in recent sales, a figure that has been matched or surpassed nationwide. Gun store owners in West Texas are reporting 50 per cent hikes in sales. The FBI reports a 23 per cent increase in background checks compared to the year before in the lone star state.

After record one day sales on Black Friday back in December, gun stores are also celebrating all time high sales for the month of February.

Gun manufacturerSmith & Wesson’s shares also shot up 18 per cent last week, their highest level in two years, on the back of reports of a 60 per cent surge in backlog orders.

Interest in gun shows is also rampant, with a record turnout of nearly 4,000 people showing up to an event in Iowa this past weekend. Concealed carry permits in the state have soared by as much as 270 per cent over the last year in some counties.

Gun enthusiasts fear that Obama will use his same duck second term to follow through on a promise he made to gun control advocate Sarah Brady during a White House meeting last year, that his administration was working “under the radar” to sneak attack the second amendment rights of American citizens.

“I’m constantly getting questions from people in the community about this,” firearms expert Alan Korwin told the Houston Chronicle. “We saw a fire sale when he was elected last time. But the speculation is that now … with his need to get re-elected gone, the sky is the limit on attacking the Second Amendment.”

NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre has echoed the fears, telling a CPAC crowd last month, “All that first term, lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term.”

More generalized fears over an economic collapse and a breakdown in society are also spurring gun purchases as well as other items in preparation for “doomsday” scenarios.

A recent survey commissioned by National Geographic found that there are around 3 million “preppers” in America who are actively taking steps to protect themselves from the threat of unforeseen chaos. The vast majority of Americans who took part in the poll said they expected a “major catastrophe” to hit the United States at some point, with 51% believing there will be a financial collapse within 25 years and 29% fearing a super virus pandemic.

Over the last few years, the Second Amendment has experienced somewhat of a rebirth, thanks largely to a pair of Supreme Court decisions: District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago.

In these seminal decisions, the Supreme Court affirmed the understanding of the Founding Fathers that there is indeed an individual right to keep and bear arms, a God-given right to protect oneself that is guaranteed to us in the Second Amendment to our Constitution. Cities with oppressive restrictions on guns, including the District of Columbia and Chicago, have been forced to at least recognize that they cannot simply deny citizens their right to possess firearms. At the same time, however, these cities continue to erect barriers to citizens seeking to exercise their rights.

In other words, despite the victories in the Supreme Court, the battle for Second Amendment rights in America is far from over. There is perhaps no better reminder of this unfortunate state of affairs than a recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Sue Myerscough, an appointee of President Barack Obama.

With over 10 million guns sold in the United States in 2011, violent crime rising significantly as the economic crisis worsens, and self defense killings sky rocketing, it’s becoming increasingly unpopular for politicians to call for restrictions on firearms. If anything, even though government officials in states like Illinois and New Jersey are  attempting to outlaw guns completely, the public outcry has been deafening, with each attempt met by protests and solidarity from individual rights and gun advocates all over the country.

It’s clear that the majority of Americans support their inherent right to bear arms. But, even though the strategy of attacking our second Amendment is wholly unpopular and failing miserably, misguided government officials are beginning to explore ever more novel ways of circumventing the US Constitution and Second Amendment altogether.

Like New Jersey’s recent attempt to ban ammunition, Illinois is now taking aim at ammo. This latest legislation would add a surtax to every box of ammunition sold, and if allowed, would set an alarming precedent that effectively threatens our ability to utilize a firearm for its intended purpose.

State Rep. Kelly Cassidy, in a bill introduced earlier this month, proposed a 2 percent surtax on ammunition. The proceeds would go toward a “high-crime trauma center grant fund,” which would then send the tax money to trauma centers in “high-crime areas.”

The idea is to begin to offset the high cost of gun violence. Mark Walsh, campaign director for the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, told FoxNews.com that cost often ends up being shouldered by these urban trauma centers.

“(The money would go) into communities here in Illinois that have been damaged with gun violence,” he said. “I think it’s a legitimate way to pursue funding.”

“We aren’t causing the problem. They are,” Pearson said. “It’s an attack on firearm owners and their rights. … They think that because we like to target shoot and hunt, we’re bad people, and we should pay for all the ills of the city of Chicago.”

Since gun owners in Illinois have to have a special ID card which requires a background check to obtain, Pearson said those committing crimes of gun violence aren’t likely to be paying much into the proposed tax fund.

“They’re not buying their ammunition (legally). They’re not paying any part of the tax. They’re getting their stuff illegally,” he said.

He estimated a typical box of ammo runs for about $25 in Illinois, meaning the average tax per box would be about 50 cents.

Supporters of the new legislation argue that proceeds from this small tax will be used to help the greater community. In this case, we would argue that the  road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The risks of an abusive government having the ability to essentially set the price of a product through taxation is a scary proposition. Anytime government has ever identified a new good or service to tax, if it is allowed to do so, it unabashedly continues to raise those taxes in perpetuity. Gasoline, alcohol and cigarettes are key examples of this. In New York, for example, you pay  more in taxes for a pack of cigarettes than the actual cigarettes. This same model will be introduced to ammunition if the sycophants in our local, state and federal government aren’t stopped.

You can be assured that if legislation like this isn’t stopped swiftly and unequivocally, it will spread like a cancer throughout the rest of the country.  Like cigarettes and booze, ammunition, it will be argued, is a danger to public health and the general welfare, and as such, will require high taxation to cover the adverse social impact it causes. It’s only a 2% tax today, but once the idea takes hold without protest, it will without a doubt lead to massive price increases, leaving many without the ability to exercise a right that is a pillar of the US Constitution.

A Message Alert from Gun Owners of America

Last week, we alerted you to a radical anti-gun nominee President Obama named to the federal bench, Jesse Furman.

To no one’s surprise, Furman is cut from the same judicial cloth as other Obama nominees such as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

For instance, in an article published a number of years ago—but from which Furman has not distanced himself—he writes that: “Probably the best explanation for the amount of violent crime in the United States is its fascination with guns.”

GOA members flooded the Senate with emails, and many Senators voted against Furman. But Majority Leader Harry Reid kept every single Democrat in lock-step with the Obama agenda, and Furman was confirmed to a lifetime appointment to the bench on a vote of 62-34.

Republicans Jon Kyl and John McCain (AZ), Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander (TN), Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe (ME), Jeff Sessions (AL), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Scott Brown (MA), and Lindsey Graham (SC) joined all Democrats in voting for Furman.

This vote serves to highlight the difficulty in protecting the courts from anti-Second Amendment nominees who come before the Congress. Obama will continue to nominate far left gun grabbers, and Harry Reid will be his go-to guy for confirmation votes.

And if Obama wins a second term, his agenda will become only more brazen. That’s why a top goal of GOA in 2012 is to help elect as many truly pro-gun friends as we can to the U.S. Senate.

It is crucial that Harry Reid does not retain the gavel next year. But it is not enough to just elect members of the opposing party. We need to elect strong candidates who understand the Constitution and who will not bow to pressure from the White House—whoever the occupant may be—or from the leadership of either party in the Congress.

Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee called on Attorney General Eric Holder to resign even as the country’s top lawyer dodged questions about his involvement in what many are calling a criminal scheme by the U.S. government to traffic weapons to Mexican drug gangs.

During his testimony, Holder ranted angrily about the alleged “unfairness” of him having to answer questions about why he used bogus documents to conceal the fact that weapons sold in the government gunrunning operation were used to murder U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

“Nobody’s been disciplined. Nobody’s been fired,” Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) told the embattled Holder. “It might be time for you to resign.”

Holder opened his remarks by acknowledging that “Fast and Furious”—the U.S. governmental operation to supply arms to Mexican narco- guerrillas, who are waging veritable war against the governments of Mexico and the United States—was a mistake. However, he claimed it was cooked up by people in his employ and was something he could not personally be held accountable for.

Evidence presented to the committee during five previous hearings shows that Holder lied to Congress about Fast and Furious, claiming it did  not exist. Since then, he has changed his tune and also admitted that the Justice Department laundered money for Mexican drug gangs as well.

The Fast and Furious operation was the brainchild of Patrick Cunningham, the head of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix. It was Cunningham whom Holder referenced in comments he made claiming that his subordinates deceived him and other Department of Justice supervisors as to the nature of the program.

Cunningham recently took the Fifth Amendment and refused to testify before Congress, claiming he was under criminal investigation for his actions in setting up and controlling the Fast and Furious program.

Holder himself has been threatened with a criminal contempt of Congress citation for his continuing refusal to release almost 10,000 documents relating to the program.

Recently, the family of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was murdered by thugs using guns provided to Mexican narco-guerrillas by Holder, has filed a civil lawsuit seeking $25 million in damages from the Obama administration

Terry was killed in late 2010 during a cross-border raid conducted by Mexican drug traffickers. An investigation into the murder found that the guns used were provided to Mexican drug cartels by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and that the operation was conceived and carried out by the U.S. Attorney’s Office under the supervision of Holder.

The family of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the federal government. Terry was killed on December 14, 2010, by drug cartel bandits in Arizona. Investigators found two AK47s at the scene that were linked to the government’s Fast and Furious gun-running operation.

Under Fast and Furious, the ATF orchestrated the sale of guns originating in the United States to Mexican drug cartels financed by international banks.

According to William Newell, former ATF special agent in charge of the Phoenix Field Division, the Internal Revenue Service, Drug Enforcement Administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement were “full partners” in Operation Fast and Furious.

The CIA was also involved, according to the Washington Times. The agency helped arm the Sinaloa cartel, described as the “preferred cartel on the street level near the American border.” Wachovia bank laundered Sinaloa money through foreign-exchange houses known as casas de cambio.

The relationship between Sinaloa, the Department of Justice, the DEA, FBI and presumably the CIA was revealed by Zambada Niebla, a key player in the Sinaloa organization, who is now in custody in the United States. In a court document filed last March, Niebla said he is an asset of the U.S. government.

“The notion that Fast and Furious was used as a cover through which to arm the the Sinaloa cartel would explain why the feds showed little interest in following up where guns ended up once they left the United States,” Paul Joseph Watson noted in August.

In December, it was confirmed that the government operation was also used to further whittle away the Second Amendment.

“There’s plenty of evidence showing that this administration planned to use the tragedies of Fast and Furious as rationale to further their goals of a long gun reporting requirement,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said during the Fast and Furious investigation. “But, we’ve learned from our investigation that reporting multiple long gun sales would do nothing to stop the flow of firearms to known straw purchasers because many Federal Firearms Dealers are already voluntarily reporting suspicious transactions. It’s pretty clear that the problem isn’t lack of burdensome reporting requirements.”

The Brian Terry lawsuit comes as Department of Justice boss Eric Holder prepares to face House Republican Darrell Issa’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee today.

Holder’s appearance comes after the Justice Department Wednesday sent a letter to Issa rejecting his demands Tuesday that certain documents be turned over by next week.

The documents reveal that the DOJ allowed “guns to walk” into Mexico.

Issa promises to cite Holder with contempt of Congress if he fails to turn over the documents.

In their lawsuit against the government, the Terry family argues that the top federal prosecutor in Phoenix lied to them about the AK47s found at the murder scene in an attempt to hide the connection of the weapons to the ATF’s Fast and Furious gun-running operation.

Following a memorial service for the murdered Border Patrol agent, the Terry family met with Border Patrol, FBI and Justice Department officials in a hotel conference room in Tucson, Arizona. “But the officials gave them almost no information and wouldn’t answer the family’s questions,” a notice of claim filed in court explains.

“The federal officials were obviously covering something up, and their actions only added to the family’s grief,” the notice says.

In an end-run around an all out gun ban, the New Jersey Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee is set to consider legislation that would ban ammunition under the auspices of protecting police.

The language seemingly targets the already prohibited ‘armor piercing ammunition’ but would encompass any ammo that is deemed to “pose a threat to the safety and well being of law enforcement.” Ammoland is reporting that “Common hunting, target, and self-defense ammunition would be subject to ban, along with BB’s, airgun pellets, and non-metallic ammunition like plastic airsoft pellets.”

The NRA concurs with Ammoland, reporting that while the language of the bill seemingly deals only with handgun ammo, the actual legislation could include the ban of many rifle ammunition, particularly as there is a bleed over between cartridges that work with both types of firearms:

Although the bill only mentions handgun ammunition, it is in fact not limited to handgun ammunition, and would apply to all rifle ammunition for which a handgun is ever made. As an increasing number of gun manufacturers make handgun models that shoot rifle caliber ammunition, the line between “handgun” vs. “rifle” ammunition has become blurred, and the New Jersey State Police have already begun treating rifle ammunition in this category as if it were handgun ammunition for regulatory purposes. As long as a handgun exists that shoots a particular caliber of rifle ammunition, New Jersey treats that ammunition as if it were handgun ammunition.

The bills would also “criminalize the use of a defaced or stolen firearm,” which would again, through vague and ill-defined language, deceptively restrict the lawful ownership of virtually any modified or restored firearm.

The Judiciary Committee, sister to the Law & Public Safety Committee in the New Jersey assembly, has previously pushed sweeping gun ban legislation, as in 2008 where it passed 5-to-1 out of committee a long-list of firearms, including modern weapons, traditional muzzleloaders, older guns and even replicas that were targeted for a ban.

Police have repeatedly admitted that they can’t protect us and have pointed out that they have no liability to do so. Yet, this and other legislation proves that they don’t want us to be able to protect ourselves either. Further, it is the criminal intent of the aggressor, not the tool he holds, that poses the threat to law enforcement or anyone else targeted. Leaving all the tools in the hands of criminals and taking them away from law abiding citizens does nothing to even the score and makes little sense, despite what may well be good intentions. Still, lawmakers are ever eager to encroach on the guarantee of the right to bear arms so clearly outlined in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution.

Assembly Bill 588 and Assembly Bill 1013 are scheduled for hearing on January 30, and would enable the state’s Attorney General to instate a de facto restriction of the Second Amendment via executive fiat.

There are, of course, many pushing for whatever restrictions can be sustained under the current political climate at any given time.

New Jersey, like other big city venues including New York and Chicago, has long been a hotbed for victim disarmament. Newark Mayor Cory Booker has been publicly demonizing gun ownership for some time, offering a $1000 reward for anonymous tips and warning that ‘illegal’ firearm possession will lead to jail time. Booker is a prominent member of the national Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition, who advocate many of the same restrictions.

Meanwhile, the resignation of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords a year after her attempted assassination has prompted renewed cries to embrace federal legislation to ban certain ammo-clips, backed by the vigilant anti-2nd Amendment Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, the Brady Center and other disarmament advocates.

According to reports, President Obama secretly vowed to the Brady Center last year to work on gun legislation “under the radar,” prompting many commentators to connect it with the Fast & Furious gun-walking scandal, as well as many other related covert operations, asserting that it was in part an attempt to demonize the 2nd amendment and garner support for firearm legislation.

Further, efforts are being made in 2012 to coerce that U.S. Senate into ratifying the United Nation’s Small Arms Treaty, an international agreement that seeks to disarm ordinary Americans and limit the ability to purchase a wide array of products in the firearm industry. See the Lou Dobbs report below:

In Washington’s latest outrage against Americans, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice has just found American’s toughest Sheriff Joe Arpaio guilty of a wide range of civil rights violations against illegal immigrants. If the sheriff’s office doesn’t stop its crackdown on illegal immigration, the federal government is threatening to pull millions of dollars in federal funding – a move that will effectively scrap any police presence or border control in the busiest human- and drug-trafficking corridors along the U.S.-Mexico Border.

Isn’t that convenient.

Right now, we’re calling on you as an American Citizen to defeat the Obama administration at its own game by demanding a citizen’s impeachment of Eric Holder.

Obama intentionally put in charge ineffective, yes-man Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General in order to pull the Department of Justice into his sick determination to destroy America by destroying law and justice in this country. No longer are we going to sit on our hands waiting to take back America until November 2012. Impeachment is the only way to rid America of the corrupt and conniving U.S. Attorney General. But America desperately needs your help.

Through our investigation, we have discovered a little known rule in the House handbook on how to impeach Eric Holder and every other Obama official abusing his or her power.

According to  the legislative manual of the House of Representative (and a case from 1826 which saw just such a thing happen for a federal judge), U.S. citizen’s have the right and the ability to take back Washington by impeaching failed officials at the highest levels of government.

Taken from the commentary on Thomas Jefferson’s Manual:

“In the House various events have been credited with setting an impeachment in motion: charges made on the floor on the responsibility of a Member or Delegate (II, 1303; III, 2342, 2400, 2469; VI, 525, 526, 528, 535, 536); charges preferred by a memorial, which is usually referred to a committee for examination (III, 2364, 2491, 2494, 2496, 2499, 2515; VI, 543); a resolution introduced by a Member and referred to a committee (Apr. 15, 1970, p. 11941; Oct. 23, 1973, p. 34873); a message from the President (III, 2294, 2319; VI, 498); charges transmitted from the legislature of a State (III, 2469) or territory (III, 2487) or from a grand jury (III, 2488); or facts developed and reported by an investigating committee of the House (III, 2399, 2444).”

So far, 53 members of Congress have called on Holder to resign over the Operation Fast and Furious cover-up by the Department of Justice under Holder’s leadership, but he refuses to listen to the American people and our elected representatives just like his buddy, Barack Hussein Obama.

Once your petition is filed with a member of Congress, the next step is to be brought before the House by a willing representative – according to the 110th Congress House Rules Manual – House Document No. 108-241, petitions, memorials and other papers addressed to the House may be presented by the Speaker as well as by a Member (IV, 3312) AND a Member may present a petition from the people of a State other than his own (IV, 3315, 3316).

And finally, the House must approve the impeachment.

Folks, taking back Washington from Obama’s out-of-control appointees and other cronies in power doesn’t get any easier than that, especially when we’ve got the House majority in our favor…

Republican congressman Jim Sensenbrenner opened up the possibility for a Citizen’s impeachment of Eric Holder just a few days ago in front of Congress, and so far it remains overlooked as a far-shot by the major media news outlets – even by the conservative ones.

We need you to ask Congress to impeach Eric Holder since he is unwilling to resign despite our demands and the demands of our elected officials. Holder is feeling so secure in his position that he even recently scolded members of Congress for ‘inappropriate rhetoric’ during their investigation of the botched gun-running program known as “Operation Fast and Furious.” Then he had the gall to admit that more violent crimes on both sides of the border could result from the Obama Administration’s failed plot to destroy the Second Amendment. And now, with the biased, self-serving investigation of Sheriff Joe – they’ve brought the fight to us.

There is less than one year left before the Presidential Elections – that gives us one year to chip away at the Obama administration’s clutch on Washington that is destroying America. But we don’t have to sit by and watch him do it. Right now, we’re begging you – for the future of our country – demand a citizen’s impeachment of Eric Holder TODAY.

DEMAND CITIZEN’S IMPEACHMENT OF ERIC HOLDER!
BLAST FAX CONGRESS TODAY!

Please, exercise your right as a U.S. Citizen today. Help free America from the grips of the Obama administration, one official at a time. SELECT HERE!

As U.S. Citizens, we HAVE the right and the power to impeach Eric Holder. We MUST exercise that right!

For America,
